January’s Table of Contents

From the Editors

Happy New Year!

For your reading pleasure, today we published a story called “Happy (re)Birthday” by Michael Snyder — a rather meta story with a lot of references that long-time EDF readers may enjoy. I am hopeful that it also marks a rebirth of sorts for us, back on track with a table of contents and a full month of stories.

It’s a lot of work for a short-handed crew of volunteers, so if you have ideas and would like to get involved in some way, please contact us. We could use website and technical expertise, marketing, fundraising/patron support, a proofreader, a publishing assistant with WordPress skills, and really anything you can imagine. There’s absolutely no financial reward involved, as every cent flows toward site maintenance and the authors, but it’s a worthy cause to get involved with.

For Writers

After six months with EDF, slush reader Nadya Bauman has moved on to other opportunities and will be missed by our team. We have a vacancy, so if you think you’ve got what it takes to volunteer as an EDF slush reader, check out the application information here.

Submissions are now open for stories targeted at holidays and occasions in February and March:

  • SUBMIT HERE for February-specific stories (including Groundhog Day, the Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day, and more); closes January 27th.
  • SUBMIT HERE for March-specific stories (including International Women’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Spring Break, and more); closes February 24th.

Please note that general submissions (publishable at any time) should always go through our main submissions form; the month-specific ones are for stories that would only be suitable for publication during the month in question.

And now, on to what you’ve been waiting (a long time) for…
