April’s Table of Contents

editorial by Camille Gooderham Campbell

From the Editors

Since I’m not actually convinced that anyone reads these editorials, I’ll save the important stuff for a “special site announcement” at another time. Sound good? There’s also the minor matter that this happens to be April Fools’ Day, so putting up serious business today just seems odd, maybe a little wrong, and somehow awkward.

For Readers

On April 7th, we will be featuring the winning story from Flash Fiction Chronicles’ String-of-10 SEVEN contest, “Options” by Jack Cooper.

We don’t have much in the way of actual themed stories for the various holidays and celebrations this month, but we’ve done our best to find stories that fit with the essence of each special day.

We’re recognizing April Fools’ Day with “In the Chocolate Saloon” by Jan Alexander, and then the first day of Passover with Sarah Rachel Egelman‘s “The Order of Things”. On Easter Sunday, we’ll be offering you “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made” by Edison McDaniels. Finally, “Red Ampersands” by Dale J Rappaneau, Jr will be featured on Administrative Professionals’ Day. We hope you enjoy these, and all our other stories.

For Writers

You know the drill. We need anything that needs to make it into May’s calendar by April 26th at the latest… May Day, Star Wars Day, Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and any other special days you celebrate and want to share.

In staffing news, we’re sorry to see long-time slush reader Tony Held and long-time editorial assistant Dustin Adams step down to focus on other things, and we wish them the best of luck going forward. (No, this is not an April Fool thing. We really are minus a couple of great team members.)

And now, here’s what you can look forward to this month…
